Saudi Arabia has approved Indian-made Covaxin for travel.
In a recent vaccine update, The Indian Embassy in Saudi made the announcement yesterday that Indian citizens who are fully vaccinated with Covaxin can enter Saudi Arabia without any restrictions.
This Vaccine is Manufactured by Bharat Biotech, Covaxin is being acknowledged by several nations now. Now Saudi Arabia too has added it to its approved COVID-19 vaccines. Now Indian nationals fully vaccinated with Covaxin can visit the country easily.
the World Health Organization (WHO) gave its approval of emergency use of Covaxin It was in November 2021 that. Sooner or after, numerous countries across the globe started recognizing the covaxin for travel including the US, UK, Switzerland and Australia, among others.
Before that only 01 Vaccine Covishield, another popular vaccine in India, had the approval by the WHO. Saudi Arabia has become the latest country to approve the vaccine and now there are seven approved vaccines in the list which are Moderna, Johnson & Johnson, Oxford-Astrazeneca, Pfizer, Sinovac and Sinopharm.

What is an immune traveller?
If you are a national or resident of Saudi Arabia:
Immune status will appear in the Tawakkalna app 14 days after you have received all doses of an approved COVID-19 vaccine, or have recovered from COVID-19 within the last 6 months.
If you are a non-resident or first time visitor to Saudi Arabia:
You will be immune 14 days after you have received all doses of a COVID-19 vaccine approved by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. You must present a certificate or proof of your vaccination status in line with the requirements set by the Ministry of Health and complete an Immunisation Information Form before travelling to Saudi Arabia. The form enables you to register your immunisation data and use the Tawakkalna app.
Vaccines approved by the Saudi Arabian Ministry of Health are:
- Two doses of Pfizer, Oxford AstraZeneca (Covishield & SK Bioscience), Moderna or one dose of Johnson & Johnson.
- Two doses of Sinopharm or Sinovac with a one extra dose of any of the four approved vaccines above (does not apply if travelling with a tourist visa).

Saudi Arabia— The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has announced that Saudia institutional quarantine is no more required for foreign Umrah pilgrims coming from India , Pakistan and other countries who took two doses of Covid-19 vaccines approved in Saudi Arabia.
Fully vaccinated Umrah pilgrims can now travel directly to the holy city of Makkah and start performing Umrah rites without the need for institutional quarantine, the Saudi ministry explained.
The Saudi ministry has also said that the period of stay in the Kingdom for Umrah pilgrims coming from abroad has been increased to 30 days. Umrah Visa Validity is 30 Days
Before the travel suspension, following the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic, foreign Umrah pilgrims were allowed to stay up to 30 days in Saudi Arabia. When the temporary ban on Umrah in year 2020 , Umrah pilgrims was lifted & the service resumed on Nov. 1, 2020, foreign pilgrims were allowed a 10-day stay in the Kingdom of Saudi Araia.
Now all foreign Umrah pilgrims aged 18 and above will be granted a permit to enter Saudi Arabia to perform Umrah in year 2021 & 2022 Umrah Groups, in streamline with the terms and conditions set by the Saudi Ministry of Health.& Ministry of Haj Umrah, As for the domestic Umrah pilgrims, anyone aged 12 and above will be allowed to perform Umrah.
The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah clarified that the requirement for Umrah pilgrims from countries that are not included in the travel ban is only inoculation with two doses of coronavirus vaccines approved by the Kingdom. They are no longer required to comply with the condition of Saudi institutional quarantine.
However, a 3-day institutional quarantine is required for foreign pilgrims who are immunized with two doses of the vaccines approved by the World Health Organization (WHO). Such Umrah pilgrims have to carry a Printed PCR laboratory test after 48 hours of Saudi institutional quarantine, and then only will be allowed to perform Umrah directly if they submit a negative PCR report.
The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman recently issued an order for allowing, utilization of the full capacity of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque for receiving Umrah pilgrims and worshipers. Subsequently, the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah and the Presidency for the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques have geared up to accommodate maximum number of domestic and foreign pilgrims including India, Pakistan and worshippers at the two holy mosques.
The Saudi ministry has also revoked the maximum age limit of 50 years for Umrah pilgrims coming to perform Umrah from outside Saudi Arabia. Earlier, the ministry had set a minimum age of 18 years and maximum 50 years to book an appointment and issue permit to perform Umrah, as well as the permit for prayer at the Grand Mosque and Al-Rawdah Sharif at the Prophet’s Mosque and visit the Prophet’s grave following the easing of restrictions that were imposed Due to following the coronavirus outbreak.
The Saudi ministry recently launched the service of issuing permits for Umrah as well as for access to the Grand Mosque in Makkah and the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah for those coming from outside the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia through the Eatmarna and Tawakkalna applications. While social distancing measures were lifted, Umrah pilgrims were still required to wear face masks and make Mandatory reservations to perform Umrah and prayers in order to verify their immunity status at the entrances of the holy mosques.

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has recently re-established its connection to the outside world by way of reopening international flights to and from the Kingdom
Who can travel to Saudi Arabia ?
The below following categories of passengers are permitted to enter Saudi Arabia:
- Residents and citizen of Saudi Arabia;
- family members of first-degree Saudi Arabia Citizen;
- All citizens of Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates;
- Guests with an exit/entry, work, residence or visit visa issued by Saudi Arabia;
- Guests with a tourist visa issued by Saudi Arabia;
- Domestic workers of citizens of Saudi Arabia. They must be accompanied by the sponsor;
- Domestic workers of citizens of Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates. They must be accompanied by the sponsor or one of the first-degree family members of the sponsor;
- Passengers with an Umrah visa.
Note : Saudi Iqama & Exit Re Entry must be Valid till you Reach Saudi Arabia.(As per Saudi Local Time)
Category 1:
Guests arriving from India, Indonesia, Pakistan, Egypt, Brazil and Vietnam are allowed to enter without spending 14 days outside of these countries subject to meeting the below-mentioned conditions regardless of their vaccination status outside of Saudi Arabia:
- Guests must hold a 5-day Saudi Institutional quarantine package to enter Saudi Arabia.
- Guests must register on Muqeem platform and receive a confirmation before departure.
- Guests are subject to PCR test upon arrival and during their institutional quarantine period.
- must have valid documents and follow other entry requirements.
This does not apply to:
- citizens of Saudi Arabia
- foreign citizens fully vaccinated in Saudi Arabia
Effective Starts- 4 December 2021, All arriving Guests from any other country other than Afghanistan, Angola, Botswana, Eswatini, Ethiopia, Lebanon, Lesotho, Malawi, Madagascar, Namibia, Mauritius, Mozambique, Union of Comoros, Seychelles, South Africa, Turkey, Zambia and Zimbabwe are allowed to enter subject to meeting the below conditions:
- Received one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine taken inside Saudi Arabia.
- Passengers Must have Valid 3-day quarantine package booked to enter Saudi Arabia.
- Passengers must register on Muqeem platform and receive a confirmation before departure.
- passengers are subject to PCR test upon arrival and during their institutional quarantine period.
- must hold valid documents and follow other entry requirements.
Guests who are eligible to enter Saudi Arabia and are required to quarantine on arrival can also book institutional quarantine “Institutional Quarantine facilities approved by the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing”. The Quarantine booking confirmation must display a QR code which will be verified at the time of check-in and boarding from Departure Country..
What are the Documents Require to Travel Saudi Arabia. Pre-departure requirements
All Guests need to present a printed copy of a negative COVID-19 PCR test result certificate issued by an authorised laboratory no more than 72 hours before the last direct flight to the kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Citizens of Saudi Arabia and children under the age of 8 years are exempt from this requirement.
- All Guests, including citizens of GCC countries, must carry a valid passport.
- Guests Must have Valid Saudi Visit Visa
- Guests Must have Valid Saudi Iqama
- Guests must have Valid Saudi Exit Re Entry
- Guests must have Valid Saudi Tourist Visa

COVID-19 vaccination entry requirements
- Guests with a COVID-19 vaccination certificate showing that they were fully vaccinated with a vaccine approved in Saudi Arabia. This must be register in Muqeem and receive a confirmation before departure. Saudi Arabia Accept the list of Vaccines are: AstraZeneca (Covishield), AstraZeneca (SK Bioscience), AstraZeneca (Vaxzevria), Moderna and Pfizer-BioNTech (Comirnaty).
- Guests with a COVID-19 vaccination certificate showing that they were fully vaccinated with Janssen at least 14 days before departure.
- Guests who have been fully vaccinated with a vaccine approved by WHO, but not by Saudi Arabia, and received a booster dose of AstraZeneca (Covishield), AstraZeneca (SK Bioscience), AstraZeneca (Vaxzevria), Janssen, Moderna and Pfizer-BioNTech (Comirnaty). They must provide a proof of received vaccinations in accordance with the Ministry of Health and must be registered in the Quddum platform.
Guests with a COVID-19 vaccination certificate showing that they received the vaccine at least 14 days before arrival must complete “The registration immunization information form” available at https://muqeem.sa/#vaccine-registration/home; and must download the Tawakkalna App in Mobile and submit their personal details before departure. The complete registration confirmation must be presented at check-in.
Medical insurance
All Guests Travelling Saudi Arabia after 01 December 2021 must have Valid medical insurance to cover their treatment of COVID-19. This does not apply to citizens of Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates.

From 01st December 2021, the suspension of direct Flights entry to Saudi Arabia lifted for Countries India, Indonesia, Pakistan, Brazil, Vietnam, and Egypt. Guests will be allowed to enter the kingdom of Saudi Arabia without spending 14 days outside of these countries, provided they undergo a mandatory 5‑days institutional quarantine on arrival, even if they are fully vaccinated against COVID‑19 in India or any other Country.
There are few restrictions on the categories of guests who can enter Saudi Arabia at this time. Please check the requirements before you travel. If you are travelling from India to Saudi Arabia, you must take a COVID‑19 PCR test before departure.
Travel Advisory & Guidelines for booking Saudi Institutional Quarantine Packages, Process is Similar for all Airlines Like Air Arabia, Gulf Airways, Etihad Airways, Saudi Airlines Air India & Air India Express Quarantine Guidlines.
All non-Saudi Travellers (except passengers under the age of 8) are required to provide a mandatory RT-PCR Test (taken 72 hours before departure) to enter the kingdom of Saudi Arabia KSA (for all non-Saudi Guests irrespective immune or not) with the exception of passengers under the age of 8yrs and below.
All Guests arriving Starting from 01 December 2021 From India must hold a confirmed institutional quarantine bookings for entering to Saudi Arabia (Valid As per Airline Policies).
- 05 Days Quarantine stay in approved and licensed institutional quarantine facilities by the Ministry of Tourism
- Confirmation of two (PCR) tests in Saudi Arabia, one on arrival and within 24 hours & the other on 04th day.
- Full-board meal.(Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner)
- Airport transportation Pickup (one-way)
- Confirmation of the performance of two (PCR) tests, one on arrival and another within 24 hours and the other on the 4th day with result on the 5th day.
- Guests who intend on visiting Saudi Arabia Must have medical insurance that covers (COVID-19) treatment also. (This excludes citizens, residents, and GCC citizens). Insurance should cover the costs of treatment in outpatient clinics, emergencies, and hospitals; including Saudi institutional quarantine for a period of up to 14 days.
If you are arriving before hotel standard check-in times, you are encouraged to book an additional 1 night extra to ensure room availability. For a faster administration and processing of your test, we encourage you to book your Quarantine package03 Days before your Travel Date. here.
In compliance with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia regulations, only one person is allowed per room, except for the following:
- Travelers of the same family (first-degree relatives).
