The 2024 Eid al-Fitr- Eid al Fitr is an Islamic celebration that commemorates after the completion of Ramadan/ramazan , the spiritual holy month of fasting during which all the Muslims around the world fast from sunrise until to sunset on every day. The Arabic word term ‘Eid al-Fitr’ translates to ‘festival of breaking the fast’. Eid al-Fitr is observed on the first day of the Shawwal Month, the tenth month of the Muslim Calendar (lunar) . It does not begin until the new moon is visible, i.e.. Muslims in different parts of the world celebrate the festival at different times. Eid al Fitr in India is expected to celebrate on April 10 or 11 this year.

“We expect that the Moon visibility will not be good for seeing the Shawwal crescent in Central regions, Sudair and Tumair due to heavy clouds.”

8:15 pm: The sun sets over the main observatories in Sudair and Tumair a little past 6:15 PM Mecca time (8:30 pm IST). We can expect an official announcement about the sighting of the crescent moon shortly after.
